David De Gea equalled the Premier League record for most saves made in a single match as his heroics earned Manchester United victory over Arsenal on Saturday. Although the Red Devils emerged as 3-1 victors at the Emirates Stadium, they were under a huge amount of pressure throughout the contest and were totally reliant on De Gea. Incredibly, according to Opta, he made 14 saves in the match – the joint most by any goalkeeper since they started recording statistics at the start of the 2003/04 season.

He now shares the record with Tim Krul, who made 14 saves against Tottenham in November 2013, and former Gunners goalkeeper Vito Mannone, who made as many against Chelsea in April 2014. United went ahead early on at the Emirates through Antonio Valencia and Jesse Lingard, with the latter scoring again in the second half to seal the win.

It was the toughest match between the Red Devils and the Gunners last night, while Arsenal scored 33 goals in goal. De Gea and only one goal netting. The source above continues.
